Overpaid JSA, but gave correct info

I got a letter today saying i was overpaid JSA in May. Apparently they'd paid me for me and partner, even though partner was receiving a conts based Giro separately.
I'm paid into bank and it's all swallowed by direct debits so i hadn't noticed the overpayment, and it was around the time we'd waited for money so if it seemed a little more than usual i would have assumed it was what we'd been owed (it was not though, obviously!).
We have given all the correct details, and at some stage before this i had been paid the correct amount, with no change of circumstances, so nothing reported to them so i can see no reason for the amount changing at all.
Anyway, i just wondered, since i had given the correct details - could i appeal this overpayment? I'm guessing not, but after a quick search on some fractionally similar posts on here, some have been advised to appeal.
Also, i'm no longer living with partner so i'm about to be moved onto IS, not sure how this will affect matters. Doesn't seem fair that i now need to pay back this money alone, when they'd apparently paid me the extra for OH living with me. Is there no way i could request he pays half, or at least something back?
Any thoughts?

I would be appealing the overpayment on the grounds of official error as the DWP were the ones who paid for you and your then partner - so it is their error that has resulted in the overpayment. You told them all the correct information. You must ask for an appeal or a revision within one month from the date you got the letter - do it in writing - you could download a GL24 appeal form off the internet or go to a local CAB.
Make sure that in your appeal you say that you didn't realise that you were being paid more and you assumed that you were being paid correctly as you had given the DWP all of the correct information.
Good luck.0 -
Did they not send you an award letter saying what was paid and why?
It usually happens with ever change of circumstance registered on the system.0 -
earplugs, thank you. Do I need to put this in writing?
NASA, they always sent me loads of these for no apparent reason, i haven't kept any that old though - but as far as i can remember none said i'd be getting more than £36 for those weeks

Well, they will argue that the info was there and you failed to notify them of an inacurracy.earplugs, thank you. Do I need to put this in writing?

Hi
I remember your post at the time, (you were asking about a grant in case he left you and took some stuff?) and you admitted you knew you were being overpaid?

You knew you were overpaid back then? Based on that I can't see you winning an appeal.

SomeBozo, no - that was unrelated - i had wondered if i'd end up being overpaid as he moved out before i got JSA for this fortnight. I was there today and they said i haven't been overpaid for this week so no worries there.
This overpayment is unrelated to the breakup, and is from May.
Hope this makes sense0 -
