I called Capital One and said I was doing a bit of financial 'housekeeping' and wanted to check the APR - it was 29.9 (which I already knew, but wanted a line to go in with) !!!!!!

I asked if it could be lowered as I was very happy with the card (smarm smarm) and was transferred to a very nice chappy who lowered it to 19.9%. Still not a good rate, I know, but my past is a checkered one financially and I'm only about 2/3 of the way towards re-building my credit rating.

I was a bit gushing and smarmy but it seemed to work!
