Hey everyone
Hope August's off to a good start for you!
It's been a pretty rubbish start for me actually, as OH has been suspended from work! I can't really go into details on here as its not sorted out yet, but it was for the most pathetic reason. He had, shall we say, a 'heated conversation' with another member of staff... it wasn't even over anything big, just a disagreement, and it sounds like it was 6 of one and half a dozen of the other to be honest - but OH's been suspended, and this other bloke is still at work? Oh I am furious! He's in an investigatory meeting at the moment, been there over an hour and I'm sick with worry wondering how it's goingWe're waiting for our mortgage offer any day now for buying our new house, and we don't even know if he's still got a job. Please keep your fingers crossed for me everyone.
Anyway, here's my challenge earnings so far to take my mind off it all...
* Interest of £7.46 on house deposit, and £4.01 on wedding fund. (Need to move the house deposit to a better paying account really, as it might be in there a couple of months ago - will crack on with that this week!)
* £1 Lightspeed.
* £12 for a mystery shop after tax - this was the one I didn’t think I’d get paid for, as I stupidly forgot to email them the receipt - so I’m really pleased to have got paid for it!
* Oh and OH’s nanna gave me £10 to ‘buy some sweets’ (god love her… I’m 22!) She’s so sweet. Think I’ll buy sweets with half of it, and save the other half like a good girlshrimpy_80 wrote: »£137.71 in holiday pay from my used-to-be second job, last payment from there. They also have my tax code wrong, which I am trying to look at as a form of saving! Tried to call HMRC yesterday and the automated service hung up on me twice. I must've selected the wrong option by accident. "If you would like to listen to me waffle on an 0845 number for five minutes, then have me hang up on you, please press 3" :rolleyes:
Oh my goodness, don't even get me started on phoning HMRC! It took me 6 months to try and get them to sort my tax code out at the start of this year...I could never get through on the phone, and even when I did they were the most unhelpful people in the world! In the end I wrote them a strongly worded letter, which seemed to work a bit better than the phone calls as they finally sorted it for me, so maybe you could try that. I need to change my code again actually, but I actually start to lose my will to live when I think about going through all that again :rotfl: Good luck, hope you manage to get it sorted!

i subscribed to a magazine yesterday that has cost me £2 a week for the last year!!!!!! It will now cost me £1.16 a week. A saving of £43.68!!!!
And i finally bit the bullet as the free gift with the subscription wasn't something pants, for the last year its been supercar calenders, autoglym, a wrench set, all really quite useless to me, but this weeks offer was a Parrot bluetooth kit which my OH had just tried out but had to leave as it was £50 and she got a cheaper cr*appier one for £20.
So thats £43.68 saving on the mags
and £50 for a free bluetooth
£93.68 to add to the siggyhappy days
Fantastic pinkneonI always mean to take out a subscription to a couple of the mags that I buy every month, as it's so much cheaper and some of the free gifts are great! Might make that my job for this month, and work out how much it'll save me over the year.

Update from me, saved £10 on mobile phone bill and £5 by cutting down my top up tv subscription. Haven't bought a newspaper this month, so another £2 saved.
Have got loads of stuff listed on Ebay and will aim to add at least 5 items a day, also collecting any spare change I find lying around the house, will add this up at the end of the month..
Not a bad start, but must try harder!BSC No: 2450 -
