P.C adaptor at currys

Options
My o.h bought me a lap top for Christmas alas 7 months into the year the adaptor stopped charging so oh went to Currys to ask about the warranty to be told by the manager ring up the head office on the back of the recipt and get a reference number then bring it back otherwise there is nothing i can do. My oh was taken aback by this as all she wanted to know is if the adaptor was covered by the warranty. The manager said take it next door to pc world they might be able to sort you out. So oh went next door to pc world it was the adaptor that was faulty and it could have been replaced free under the warranty so she was told but i need the lappy now and this meant sending it away for around 2 weeks so she bought a adaptor for 50 quid.

My question is are curry's right to refuse to even look at a faulty piece of equipment that was purchased from them without having to ring the number on the back of the receipt.

This is the second time i have had a run in with Curry's about this lap top it was missing drivers when i set it up on Christmas day so we took it back on Boxing day to be told by the self same Manager "There's nothing we can do about it today it's our busiest day bring it back another day".

That's it now with them they were as good as gold when we handed our money over last November for the lap top but as soon as they have the money they could not care less. So be warned and shop else where

No, they should have offered to book the repair for you.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

That would have been good customer service, but as long as they arent telling you to speak to the manufacurer/3rd party, they are within their rights to ask you to follow their warranty process. Never heard of this before though!

They can just as easily book it in at a store level. Even if it's busy, I still take it in for repair to book when it gets quiet
