I have been using Norton Internet Security 2005 (please don't groan) but it is about to expire. I have been given 2006 for Mothers Day. What I need to know is how should I go about installing 2006. Should I uninstall 2005 (which I know can be a nightmare) or what?

Norton can be unpredictable at the best of times.
I suggest you read the readme.txt file on the 2006 CD and check through the release notes to see what they recommend about upgrading.0 -

i agree with nickmack as I have tried both methods of uninstalling & direct upgrade from 2005 to 2006 and not totally convinced which is better. If you leave 2005 on and upgrade from it then you have a good chance of being able to keep your settings and system setup rather than uninstalling it which will of course uninstall it and you'll need to re-set them :mad:Regards,
Dave

My NIS 2005 has also just expired and rather than get ripped off by Symantec for upgrading to NIS 2006, I went out and bought one at about half the price they wanted to charge me for a download.
You will find that it is a simple job of just inserting the disc and letting run and overwrite your exsiting NIS 2005.0 -
Windym, please do post back when you've done it, to say how straightforward -- or horrendously ghastly -- you found the change to be! It would be of interest...
