Please Help! Mucked up the pressure thing on Combi

:-[  Please can anyone help me? I feel a right girly! I was messing around with the pressure thing on my combi boiler yesterday. I had just bled the radiators successfully and thought the pressure gauge thing was too close to 1 bar, so I turned the tap to increase it to 2 bars. Now the heating won't come on when timed. It will come on ok if I switch it on constant but not timed. I'm going away for 2 weeks tomorrow and want to leave the heating on timed.  I wish I hadn't touched it now  :'( Please can someone advise? Thanks so much

1 hr later, I've just checked the bar which is on 2 when heating on, then i turned it off and the bar went down to 1.

Filling up the system would have absolutely no effect on the timer whatsoever, you must have set/reset it somehow, if it works on constant then unless the timer is faulty it will work on timed also.
How are you checking it's not coming on?
Check the timer, is it a mechanical or electronic one?
Is it 12 or 24 hour clock?

BTW, most systems only require 1 - 1 1/2 bar, to release pressure if you got it too high use bleed screw on rads.

    Thanks John

I think it 'may' be ok. I just switched it off constant and (it's mechanical timer) moved the dial as if it were at the timed setting and I heard the boiler fire up so I'm wondering was I stupid enought to have put the timer/clock on day instead of night...wouldn't suprise me :-/ .

I will test it again later by knocking it off constant just before it's due to switch on at 4pm (timed) and see it it comes on.

Thanks so much, at least I know I haven't messed up the timer.

    Thanks again x

  • The pressure should not vary by 1 bar...... sounds like you still have air in the system. Try bleeding rads aeain after a few days.

This will not effect the timer though.
I save so I can spend.
