Rule 1 Don't tell anyone what your ideas are.
Have a Google on Patents.

You'll find theres loads of companies that will offer to develop / market / patent your ideas for you, they want you to spend lots of money with them and the more ideas you have the better ( more profit for them!). I contacted one myself with an idea which they told me they could research for £800 and give me a report as to its viability, the talk over the phone was all very encouraging and made my idea sound as though it could have as much impact as the wheel! They were very careful to point out however that very few ideas make any money (obviously excluding themselves!) A quick search by myself on patented ideas found a similar idea patented in several versions as long ago as the 1800's and as recently as 1998! Needless to say I didn't part with my money but I have to assume that all the report would have shown is that the idea had already been done and I'd have been £800 out of pocket.0
