i just bought a car on finance and originally agreed to it. Once the policy came through it said i had 30 days to cancel so i wrote to the company to cancel because its £17 a month and barring a disaster i would never need it cos i'm doubling my payments which will mean i will have paid it off in 9mths rather than the original 18mths and also i've been with the same employer 15yrs so barring a disaster there's no way i'll be made redundant.
i have had a phonecall today (at work) saying they've received my letter to cancel and proceeded to interrogate me about why i want to cancel and how i will pay the loan if i lose my job, they also said that they are sending me a form to sign but i'm worried cos i have no other ppi (and don't think i need it for a 9mth duration) and i'm wondering if they turn round and say i have to have it otherwise they wouldn't have lent me the money?? The amount i loaned was £2700.

its really worrying, ok i agreed to take it but why if i cancel in writing should i be getting rung at work and made to answer some awkward questions - she was asking me who i was insured with and if i'd spoken to the car salesman. I have no idea why any of the quetions were relevant. i want to cancel and that's that.
i'm just concerned about why she said she will be sending me a form and nothing will be cancelled unti then - its red tape and tbh a bit stressful. I can see them saying well, if you don't have it with us then you must take it out with someone else.0 -
they're just stalling. they can insist that you have cover, but they can not make you take it out with them.0
