PVCu Windows Quote

Hello

I'm replacing the windows on the front of my 1930s `Mock Tudor` house. I have:

1 living room bay with 5 windows plus 5 transoms. Overall height is 1400mm and each window is 550 wide. 2 of the windows and 2 of the transoms will open.

1 bedroom bay with 5 windows plus 5 transoms. Overall height is 1200mm and each window is 550 wide. 2 of the windows and 2 of the transoms will open.

1 bedroom casement with 2 windows plus 2 transoms. 1 of the windows and 1 of the transoms will open.

All transom windows will be leaded & coloured.

I've had two prices to date (both with 28mm Low E/Pk). The first was from a company who started ant £4.8K and quickly came down to £3.5K. The second was from a local company who have quoted £3K.

I would like to go with the local company, but am I paying too much?

I'm in Chester.

Also, it has been suggested that I also use an extra "6.4 laminated" to reduce road noise. This will cost an additional £350. Is it of any value?

Many thanks in advance.

I think I can buy the bays `diy`without stained glass for about 750 each plus 200 for the small one.

Allowing for the stained glass plus 2 chaps for 2 days, I think £2.5k is the mark.

I'll have a word with my local guy and see where it goes.
