Hotmail and Nokia 5800

Hi,
I'm sure I'm massively behind the times, but I got a Nokia 5800 from Orange in order to be able to check email on the go. I know that I was told you can have your email provider (I use Hotmail) synced to the phone in some way - I was shown a phone with the four contacts on the home screen which have a 'live feed' of the most recent emails from that person.
How do I do such things? I've read the instruction manual, and got v. confused:rolleyes:.
All I want to be able to do is check email on the go, easily, without logging on through the phone's browser and going to hotmail.com and checking that way every time; I'm sure this is possible, isn't it? Help!!
Cheers

If it is the 5800, then I can write out what I did, however there is a phone called the 5700 so that's why I didn't reply! Maybe the OP could confirm?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I don't have experience of the exact phone you have but most nokias seem to work in the same way.
You have to set up your mail program on the phone with the login details for your hotmail account.
On my old 6500s you went into Messages then look in Message Settings. Then you can set up a POP3 mail box account by entering things like your email address, hotmail user name and password.
Here is some information you may be asked for along the way:
POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes
Also, if you are expecting a lot of email it is worth getting some sort of data plan on your account. You can get a data bolt on for a few pounds a month if you have a contract - this takes care of your data for web browsing and emails. I just renewed my contract with orange and they gave me unlimited data on my plan anyway. Not sure what you can do if you have a PAYG account though.0 -
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
