yes that would be fine, we would install a number and then the phone would be ready for you to take away!

We used to use these type of phones at the last place where I worked, we had them on our LAN to make internal calls in a large Military Complex,

Never used over Broadband though and would like to know how you would connect to a voip Provider.

3p/minute is expensive. Check for voip providers like voipstunt or sipgate, they offer better rate .. I'm using voipstunt at the moment and it has free calls to UK (you still need to pay around £8/quarter to get local phone number & free calls) and lot of other countries too. Check with the guy who sell you the phone if it is locked to g3t only.
  • :T ePhone is actually 2p a min. and there isnt a monthly charge from what their website says.

looks like its just 75 for the phone and then thats it. could be worth looking into....u get UK landline built in too at no extra charge.

think you get all hardware and says its plug and go so would be easier to set up than some of the ones out there....

Do a search on ebay, theres some on there are the mo ive been looking at.

The phone is only £4.95 if you buy it on ebay

They also have another phone handset for £1.99 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-VoIP-Internet-Handset-Skype-Net2Phone-NetEasyPhone_W0QQitemZ9717358890QQcategoryZ3313QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I went and collected 2 from their office as I was working in the area, posted one to my daughter in Mexico, so when it arrives we will be able to talk for free for as long as we want.

I got the Speedtouch 716 when I signed up to BE and was very impressed. The userguide is very poor, but the modem comes with 2 VOIP connections. They even include 2 BT atapters to connect phones with BT type sockets.

I saw some of the Vonage units from Comet could be unlocked, and only cost £20 to buy.

Are there any other cheap unlockable units?
    Seth.
