Does anyone know (or know how to find out) which vehicles fall into the new chaper of the road tax bands. My mother is looking to change her car for a small economical car about 3-4 years old.

thanks

Take a look on the DVLA website, up to 100g/km co2 is free and 120g/km co2 either £40 or £50 depending whether petrol or deisel.

To know what a car emits look in Top Gear or What Car or on Parkers website.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.

FYI there are no cars currently on sale new in UK able to meet Band A
Only two I know of are:

Toyota Prius Hybrid (electric) Discontinued, but available second hand (rare).

Smart LHD Diesel 0.8l two seater, Not available in UK except as a used import (rare) The 2006 smart fortwo diesel does not meet band A requirements (101 g/km) and is also not availble in UK anyway.

For the measley difference in bands it would certainly not influence my decision in choosing a car in the slightest.

My opinion .... the new Toyota Yaris is a cracker and very economical too .

Exactly, he's got the pricing completely wrong, should be:
    Band A FREE
    Band B 100
    C 200
    D 300
    E 400
    F 500
    G 700

And he should announce a sliding scale over the next 5 years to gradually increase to those levels for Bands C,D,E,F & G

Just Got My Road Tax Renewal Form Sent To Me So I Tried To Get It On Line.
The 12 Month Fee On The Form Says £170 Yet The Web Site Say Due To The Latest Budget It Is Now £175 Surely If The Rewenal States £170 Thats What I Should Pay. If You Go Into A Shop And The Price Label States A Price They Can`t Put It Up At The Till.

I just got my renewal and my wifes. They both say that the road tax is £165 for 12 months, again I tried to go online and they want £195 for each. _pale_
