I did indeed (and still do) have the 18-55mm and it was the VR version. Personally I don't really need a telephoto lens but take a lot of shots of friends and closeup wildlife, so decided to expand upon what I've got and go from about 3.8x zoom to about 5.6x - it just fitted my style more than the telephoto 55-200 would do I must admit, I nearly went for the 55-200, especially the VR lens as that's a must for me, but on the day, the shorter one suited me more (plus I HATE changing the lens :rotfl:)

That's not babble, makes sense to me. I want to do some wildlife stuff and feel that the longer focal length would be better for this but the lower end of the 55-200 would still be suitable for portraits etc. I generally find the 18-55 a bit frustrating as it just doesn't get close enough.

oh tell me about it.. :rotfl::rotfl: hence the upgrade (plus the evening course I figured it would be useful for )
you've found yourself a bargain there though..
I get the feeling I'm going to regret my choice in a few years but hey.. I love this one so far

Typical, just heard from my mother, and due to a fatality she has been sent to glasgow, so don't know which train station im gonna have to drive to yet.
last time she went away someone threw themselves in front of a train and she was diverted then aswell.
will get some comping done whilst i wait to hear where im going.
