After a really difficult 3 months the Missus seems to be nearly her old self. No voices or delusions and no more paranoia. Boy was it wearing. We saw the shrink yesterday and our next appointment isn't until November. It looks as though she will be on Olanzapine for life though which she isn't very happy about but I say it's the same as her taking Atenenol for her blood pressure every day though I suppose taking drugs to affect the brain can be seen as different. It's more personal somehow and maybe she sees them as affecting who she is.

:confused:Do ten millipedes equal one centipede?

Glad to hear she is feeling better.
Remember to take care of yourself too xx

The only thing I thought was free for everyone was the contraceptive pill.

BMN, you're on a low/zero income, so ask the pharmacist for an application form for a HC2 certificate; you should be entitiled to free prescriptions etc.

I don't qualify as my OH earns too much...

I got 2 prescriptions of anti biotics the other week and didn't have to pay for them  do you only pay for certain things? xx

as FE said the only thing that is free in England is contraception as far as i'm aware - at least I got that free today, made me feel better that I was only paying for 3/4 of the things I was getting

Honestly, it really really is NO different from any other kind of medication - and don't let anyone tell you that or attach any stigma to it.

As long as it works and makes her feel better it is just the same as anyone taking lifelong medication for any condition - and it is the outcome that matters.

Just remember to take of yourself at the same time - I'm glad she's feeling better a055.gif

It's always worth filling out an HC2 form because, even if you don't qualify for completely free prescriptions, you can sometimes qualify for a percentage discount.

It covers everything from prescriptions and dental care to transport costs. Worth a shot for anyone struggling to pay for regular meds or anyone on a low income generally :D

But don't apply if you receive Income Support because you automatically qualify for all the free stuff

OH isn't going to be happy with his antibiotics though - can't have food an hour either side of taking them and no milk within 2 hours and they have to be taken twice a day! He has porridge with milk for breakfast and drinks lots of tea/coffee with milk! Might have to set an alarm for him to take them in the night otherwise breakfast will be difficult. although guess he could take them at work and then just before bed... that might work
