problem with Thomson DTI 1000

Hi,
I have a problem with Thomson DTI 1000 box in that whenever I turn it on, it comes up with a box stating that it needs to update - so I leave it to update and then the screen returns to the last TV channel.
The problem is that when I then press the guide button exactly the same update screen appears rather than the guide and again I let it update and return to TV but the same thing happens again and again....
It's been doing this since it requested downloadingthe latest software which I did.
It's not a disaster as you can scroll through the channels using the other buttons but it's nice to have the guide and pick a channel to watch off the guide.
Can anyone help please?
