Money back from Barclaycard.

I wrote to Barclaycard on 10 July 2009 requesting charges dating back to 2005 with interest.

I received a letter on the 27th July 2009 stating that as a 'gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability' Barclaycard was prepared to refund me all my money in full.

Money claimed £862.52
Money refunded £862.52

Are you in arrears with Barclaycard?

I had a similar result which astonished me as there appear to be so many people saying they are having trouble with Barclaycard. I am in arrears and I suspect that they have done this for 2 reasons.

    1. they are likely to sell the debt on at a fraction of its value and so making the refund actually makes little difference to them, they aren't actually shelling out cash but just crediting the account.

    2. If the account was in dispute , they could not sell it on because the rules or guidelines don't allow it but they won't allocate the refund against the arrears because that ould wipe them out and they would have no reason at this time to be chasing for settlement
  • No I did not have any arrears. They did however refund the money back onto the card.
