getting off Economy 7

Does anyone know how (if at all) easy it is to stop paying for my electricity under the economy 7 type tariffs?

When we moved into our house it was fitted with a meter that allowed for "cheaper" night time leccy & although I have been reasonably good at switching to get the best pricing it does occur to me that I'm paying more for my daytime on the assumption that I use lots at night, this is not the case & as my capped rate is coming to an end I would like to get a deal based on a single tariff.

1. Is this possible?
2. Would I need a new metre?

Any help with this would be most gratefully recieved.

Shaun

If your meter is a 'dual rate' meter, you should not need a new one.

My mum had a duel rate meter installed for Economy7 which she now no longer uses. All you need to do is inform your supplier that you no-longer which to use the Economy7 tarrif, they will then charge you at the day rate for all usage.

You will still have to enter 2 readings (low and high) on the website (if you are online) but all fuel used will be charged at one rate.

My Mum is with British gas on their latest online tarrif and it works just fine.

Depends on the company you are with, some are able to add the two rates together, some can't so the meter will need changed (some charge some don't).

Me too, they actually advised me to get it switched so there'd be less problems when switching to another provider.

If they also put you on their standard electricity tariff they could afford to give one to your neighbour and your dog as well.

If you are with nPower for electricity, double-check which tariff you are on as they vary in price a lot.
