I look past paint too - a vat of B&Q value white emulsion soon gets rid, then over the top with a nice quality neutral colour. :)

Flowery wallpaper everywhere is much worse as a prospective buyer.
  • I also love the colour but not with the clutter and type of furniture they have. In the right setting no probs

    Voyeurism is alive and well.

I look forward to you posting pictures of your tasteful decor for us to criticise.

Do you think it is really red and the flash makes it look pink? I'd be more concerned about that roof. How ugly can you get?

Have to say, this has "bad room for a hangover" written all over it :)

Strangely though, I'm a boy and had one wall brighter pink than that at uni, with the rest of the room being pretty purple.

    That's a scheme I regret in retrospect :D

Well, the house we bought a few years ago had horrendous colour schemes in all the rooms! Bright red living room and dining room, bedroom 1 was bright green with matching carpet, bedroom 2 had 2 orange walls, 2 red walls and a bright silver radiator, bedroom 3 was half red and half pink, bedroom 4 was dark red and the kitchen was bright orange walls and dark green worktops.

Fortunatley for us, we had had to sell our last house before buying this one and all our stuff was in storage and us living with in laws. We decided to delay moving in for 3 weeks and painted the place from top to bottom in magnolia. We must have spent about £150 on paint in the end! We had to live with the awful carpets until we managed to save enough for new ones, and we still haven't managed to replace the kitchen, have kind of got used to the bizarre colours now...

However, they were obviously happy there and it must have suited them - but they were very strong colours, which I think is more unusual for today's market.

We did, however, use it as a bargaining point and managed to get them to accept a relatively low offer... EA had said a number of people had had difficulty seeing past the colour schemes, it is actually a lovely house. Even nicer now we have populated it with small people! 2 of us in a 4 bed was a bit odd :-)

The people who mind don't matter, and the people who matter don't mind
Getting married 19th August 2011 to a lovely, lovely man :-)

That's a fair point. Each to their own I know, but if you were trying to sell would you not paint over a colour that's unlikely to be popular?

    My decor is here:

Flat sold in February so it's gone from Rightmove but for some reason appears to have been preserved for posterity by the site above.
