Shouldn't bother worrying - yet - it's far too cold for wasps to survive. In any case the nest will be empty. This is because in Autumn the queen left to mate and then found a nice place to hibernate, usually tucked somewhere cosy. The workers will all have died after spending some time in Autumn being bad tempered - because there was nothing to do back at the nest. When the queen emerges later this season she will start another nest and colony somewhere else. They never use the old nests.savvy wrote:I've got a wasps nest in the shed :-/............................I think it looks great and marvel at how they made it ............................BUT I would like to remove it humanely if possible!

So it's certain to be empty, cut it down and give it away as a curiousity. You can cut into a wasps nest using a sharp breadknife - if it's cold don't worry, the wasps will be dead. Paper nests are amazing natural structures.
What's more in late spring the emerging workers are very good at eating loads of garden pests - it's mostly only late summer workers that have an attitude problem0
