Equifax.co.uk free credit report? Is it a subscription?

Options
Hi all. Got the credit check because I was denied a mobile contract. Now I've done what I needed with it should I cancel the account?

I don't want to pay any money to subscribe. Or is the free check free and it's the other services that will charge me a monthly fee?

If this is the free online trial, then it says on the Equifax front page (in small type ).

"*Then only £6.99 per month to continue if you don't cancel within your 30 day free trial."

If you don't cancel it then they will start to charge you.

for a free credit report which I believe is from call credit.

They don't take any payment details so you don't have to remember to cancel.

I had a look there and discovered I'd registered with them before. Old age and memory tend to diverge...

I logged in and, well, was tempted by their annual fee of £4.97 to see the details of my accounts.

Others may crucify me, but I found it pretty good. All my current debts/accounts/phone services are there, and they are all showing relevant balances. I don't know if there are any Experian users out there who have tried this lot and can compare?

For a fiver it looks ok.

Obviously it is entirely dependant on where the data is pulled from, and where the creditors you have report account data to.

For me it was next to useless.

Out of 8 accounts that should have shown up, only 2 did.

Experian and Equifax show all 8.

    No contest.........

It's a scam by snake-oil salemen trying to make you think you need their rip-off service.

Nobody knows your business better than you so get a folder and keep notes of your private info rather than giving it away to a bunch of scumbags that'll prostitute it around to anyone wanting to pay 5p for it.
