in Credit cards
Hi - I'm new to the site and having sleepless nights over my financial situation.
I feel so overwhelmed by debt, and we are literally living hand to mouth - struggling to find money for the basics.
I'm in a well paid job (so is my husband), but have run up debts that are now crippling my family. We have run up credit card bills, re-mortgaged to pay off debts and then run up the credit cards again. I realise we have nooone to blame but ourselves - and now feel so guilty for the situation we're in.
For so long we've buried our heads in the sand, but realise that we now need to take stock of our debt and try to resolve this situation.
Trouble is, I really don't know where to start - any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks

I'd start by making a list of all your debts, rates and monthly min payments (or better yet an SOA) and post it up here and someone more knowledgable will be along shortly.
You may have better luck in the Debt free wannabes board than here.
Hope this helps.0 -
What a great response - Muppet!
Seconded! Muppet!
OP - post the same message over here for structured, relevant advice: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=76

Hi.
First of all have a good read through Martin's guide here:
> Debt Problems: What to do & where to get help
As already said, then pop over to the Debt-Free Wannabe board where there are literally hundreds of people dealing with similar situations and helping each other out.
When you are there you will probably want to post a "statement of affairs" so people can give specific advice on your situation.
Guidance on that is here: Help for First Time Posters & SOA CalculatorFree/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks Fermi - they were the missing links

Thanks so much - I'll use the links you gave to draw up a Statement of Affairs. Sounds very daunting, but I'll give it a go and then post it back on the site as you advise - hopefully someone will be able to offer some practical advice!
