Paying by AMEX on Paypal

I bought something today through a website in Hong Kong which charge all items in American Dollars - the total bill coming to US$8.40. When going through Paypal to pay for my purchase, I have 2 credit cards registered to my account - a MasterCard and an American Express (AMEX) card.

If I pay by AMEX, I am forced by Paypal to pay in US $. However, if I pay by MasterCard the amount is converted at Paypal's current exchange rate (today 1.60) so that I paid £5.25.

My question is, am I better paying off by AMEX or Mastercard?

I know it probably won't make a huge difference on this amount, but would be useful to know for the future.

Who knows to be honest.
Banks and Amex are hardly likely to let you know their exchange rates in advance.

OK thanks for that. To be honest, I think I'll stick to paying with MasterCard on Paypal. At least I can see straightaway what I am paying on MasterCard with Paypal's exchange rate, rather than waiting to see what exchange rate comes up on my AMEX statement.
