Dear All

Does anyone have any experience of etyres.co.uk "mid-range" please (brands not indicated)? They come in slightly more expensive than their economy, but not sure what brands would fall in that description (is this industry standard code for certain brands? Other websites also use the same term and the brands are half decent) - I would be annoyed with myself to go for these then find out that they are Wanli or Arrowspeed which I could get cheaper from other sources anyway (I am thinking mid-range will be better quality than the budget elswhere for a similar price?).

Many thanks

Why not give them a ring and ask them?
Ring their National Call Centre on freephone 0800 028 9000.

I have used etyres and been very satisfied with both their value and service.

Thank you - my question wasn't really etyres specific (I posted the question when they were closed), but is "mid-range" an industry standard term (as they all seem to use it) or can one company see something as budget and another mid-range depending on their preference? Their website does not seem to list any of the cheaper brands (and is quite detailed about everyone else) therefore I didn't know if this was a good sign that you may get a half-decent tyre in mid-range (rather than something that KwikFit, National and others would class as budget/economy).

    Many thanks

From elsewhere, it apparently depends on which local fitter they use who chose the tyres that they fit (etyre have their own franchises around the country plus use local partners as well apparently to get national coverage). Locals can (they claim) still beat the etyres price.

  • I always find www.blackcircles.co.uk to be cheapest with fitting included.
    my car takes 205/45 R17
    cheapest at etyres is £78.90
Cheapeast at Blackcircles is £55.38 (Thats £92 cheaper over 4 tyres)
For premium range i always us Pirelli PZero Nero
at etyres they are £116 each
at Blackcircles they only £104 (£48 over 4 tyres)

    Although saying this www.camskill.co.uk
can supply budgets for £39.22 each
and Pirelli PZero Nero for £92.50 each
But this is only delivered, you will have to take them and get them fitted
which still works out cheaper than both of the above hence why i will use Camskill when my next 4 need changing :)
    2007 Comping challenge -> £00.00 <-Typical luck!:mad:
  • I wanted to know the exact same answer, I thought when I saw the thread people might have responded with the answer.
No joy, still none the wiser, if your gonna respond, leave an answer to the question and not waffle on about something else, not interested in what other tyres you reccomend or tell me to phone etyres they are hardly gonna admit the mid brands you paid for on your car are budgets.

They won't be a brand you will know. Mid price as opposed to budget tend to be a budget version of a branded tyre, such as the Ceat when it was made by Pirelli, or the First stop made by Bridgestone.
Mytyres have a range of "top quality" tyres, but if you switch to the German website they have a brandname in the same place. Star performer, who appear to be Nankang by another name.
  • I've used both Mytyres & Black Circles without any problems. I've also had experience with Etyres and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Etyres is a franchise operation with each franchisee having their own area. Therefore Mid-range may mean different things to different individuals.

Depending on what their local tyre supplier has in stock will usually dictate the brand which you get.

Personally, I would never buy any tyre without knowing the brand beforehand. It's too much of a pig-in-a-poke gamble.

    Cheers,

    Pete

Nankang's budget brand at that. I believe they are actually manufactured not by Nankang but by a Chinese supplier to Nankang spec.

Not that that necessarily means a bad tyre but I think I'd prefer a little more openness.
