Is it normal to feel like this?

Hi everyone
4 months ago myself and my other half put an offer on a property, and we havn't stopped talking about it since ... The extension we are planning to build, the nature pond we are going to put in the garden, the possible studio room .. its been a very exciting few months.
Anyway my solicitor called this morning, and said Exchange of Contracts is looking very likely for this week with completion in 2 weeks.
Now, all of a sudden im thinking "have we done the right thing" ... "What are the neighbours going to be like" "will our children be happy living there" etc etc ... They are horrible feelings to have and I wish they would go away .. So it leaves me to ask are these feelings normal? Will they go away when we move in?
Im just wondering whether its anything to do with us being in our present property for the last 23 years!

Pretty normal I would guess. I'm a FTB moving out of parents due to exchange next week and I am pretty much soiling myself daily with worry that I could end up making a bad decision. Especially as I've lived like a complete tramp for the last 5 years to save the deposit which I'm putting on the line. Also doesn't help that I'm single and no-one to hold my hand through it all!0

Yeh theres so much excitement when your offers accepted, followed by dreams of living there that all of a sudden you feel like you've been living in a bubble and have you missed something important. Your feelings sound normal - its often sad to leave your old home.
Better get packing though and keep thinking positive thoughts!Squish0 -
Absolutely normal I'd say! I completed on my new purchase yesterday and am having exactly the same feelings! It's a scary world, particularly if you're single but it's mildly exciting at the same time. I've jumped in with both feet and here we go

Good luck!0 -
When I sold my house I didn't have any feelings I was knackered. Get packing those boxes

Look at this thread and my post 2.
You are going through something that is the usual so no need to get too worred about your sanity:cool:A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -
Yep, feeling the same here! We are due to complete in a week and I'm feeling really said as I'm taking stuff off walls and packing the kids things - so many memories in this house especially as my Dad did so much to help us with it and it's a year since he died. However, I am excited about the new place and am trying to remember that life's a journey and this is the next step. Good luck with the packing and hope it all goes well for you.0

You are not alone, we are due to give the ok to our solicitor to start the process to exchange, any day now and I'm beyond worried. Like I'm having a doubt a minute...touchwood, should all be good for us all.0

My partner keeps asking me if i am alright, i have just recently gathered all my hard earned money ready to send to the solicitor, and i dont like spending money at the best of times. Im quiet during the day and keep thinking what if this happens, what will i do if that happens. But like the other guys have said on here, it is all normal.. Just gotta go with the flow!
