Sports World charging full price for items marked 70% off?

I was in Sports World last week to buy some shoes in their scrum er sorry i mean sale and when i was in the queue to pay there was a guy in front of me who bought 2 pairs of boxer shorts. I wasn't paying too much attention (I am not that interested in another mans underwear purchases!) but I did hear the shop assistant say that will be £34.99 and the guy said how much - the shop assistant repeated £34.99 and then the guy paid and left. When I paid for my shoes I noticed the boxer shorts on display underneath the glass counter and they were marked at £5.20 or so and this was marked as 70% off the original price of £17 something. After making sure that my shoes were charged at £20.99 and not the 'original' price of £69.99 I left the shop and tried to find the guy to tell him he had been overcharged, but couldn't see him anywhere. So either their till is ringing up items at full price despite them being marked as 70% off or the shop assistant is inputting them at full price and not the 70% off price. Would trading standards be interested in this or is there any other suggested contact - I know people should check before handing over the money but I don't like seeing people being ripped off either!

sounds more like the till wasn't taking the discount off rather than him being ripped off. The sales 'person' probably doesn't know all the prices and has to rely on the till

I went into the Chester branch a few weeks ago with my son as he wanted new footy boots.

The lad serving us was a plank! First he brought a size 3 when we asked for a size 4. Then he brought us F50s instead of F30s (F50s are a LOT more expensive)

Then he brought us one F50 and one F30 in the same box. (same size)

Then he gave us the right boots, which were F30s but also in the box were an Adidas pouch and inside it were 3 pairs of inner soles for F50s???

The box wouldn't close properly and I legged it when OH went to pay for them because I thought someone would think we had put them in the box ourselves.

Till person didn't bat an eyelid at the box, so OH just paid and left.

Horrible shop, silly staff, but great prices!

Yeah the old saying BUYER BEWARE is so true. I always check my receipts when ever I buy anything. I get called cheap, but where as shops can afford to lose money, I can't...

£34 for two pairs of pants? Never mind pointing out the rip-off, point him at MSE! (Or M&S.)

Like all self-respecting single men, of course I have a few pairs of Calvins here somewhere, but I only buy them when they're in the sale at Debenhams or wherever... and I've certainly never paid £17 for them!
