No Longer Registered - What??

Yesterday I bought a belt which was 0.01p and £8.99 for postage. The seller is in the UK but the belt was being shipped from Asia. Today when I logged into ebay in the 'Items I've won' section is says that this user is no longer a registered user. The user has a feedback score of 413 with only one negetive so I did not forsee any problems with buying from them. What should I do in this situation?
Thanks

If you haven't already paid then I would hold off doing so until the seller contacts you.

They have probably been suspended for fee avoidance (the old 1p item trick) but may well have their account returned in a few weeks if they promise to behave.

IF you have paid try contacting the seller to make sure your item is going to be despatched, and if you don't get it in a reasonable time start a paypal chargeback.

  • Did you pay with paypal or a credit card ?
Email the seller and ask about the problem, it may be something simple such as he has not paid his ebay fees!
If you paid with Paypal you can usually get your money back if the item doesn't arrive and the same applies to most credit card transactions. See Ebay help on non performing sellers.
    Hope this helps.

Robin, I'm pretty sure you'll be OK. There's always a bit of a risk in buying cheap items from Asia (which I'm sure is where the seller is) but I've never had a problem.
    Can I help?

The seller is actually located in the UK as I have his address. I emailed him and a got a very quick response. He said that ebay have suspended his account for 7 days until he faxes them a copy of his passport and updates his payment information. He says that he thinks one of his competitiors reported him to try to get him suspened. He was very helpful in the email and said the item would be dispatched as normal so I think everything is okay.
    Thanks for all the help.
