How do I know the weight of big Ebay item for courier?

I'm looking for courier quotes for an antique coffee table I want to buy from an Ebay seller and the actual dimensions are no problem; approx. 110cm length x 50cm width x 40cm depth, but all the companies I've tried want to know the weight too........
Where do I go from here?

Ask the seller?

If I was the seller, I'd stand on the scales without and then with the coffee table - assuming it's not MONSTROUSLY heavy of course  And then add a couple of kg to make sure that it wasn't overweight for someone booking a courier. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Unfortunately I think it will be too heavy to weigh like this- it's solid rosewood and a real beast.
Think I may have to give up the idea of buying it; I had one quote from Abbey Antiques who advertise on Ebay (they look at the actual auction) and it was nearly £100 "I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 -
Have a look at this site, for getting quotes from couriers: http://www.shiply.com/
You can just link in the eBay item and the courier will price accordingly.0 -

The weight though is obligatory, so OP can't use the site for a quote.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well you have to assume that it weighs over 30kg, which is the normal upper limit. Why not call a courier company and ask them. I use http://www.apc-overnight.com/ and although not the cheapest I find them very good.0

I do, Flipper! The only time it's a pain is when you have a 30 mile round-trip to the nearest big supermarket......or have to get a courier quote!
