HELP. My head is slightly spinning trying to find some information about the power connection type for the 1300. It isn't mentioned anywhere on the Dell website and I am drawing a blank with a general search on the web. All I want to know what type the power connection is. I am interested in buying a surge protector and the one I want fits C6 or C8.
Can anyone help.
Many thanks.

Sorry, for me at least you are going to have to provide more information. Whereabouts is the "power connector" of which you speak located?
Actually in the laptop?
In the transformer unit (a black brick) it probably comes with?
Surely not the 13A plug at the end of the power cord leading from the transformer unit?!
And is the "surge protector" you want to buy a multiple 13A sockets extension cable, with built-in surge protector?

John, the connection type I am talking about is the shape of the connector at the end of the lead that has the plug at one end. This is the surge protector I wanted, more compact to take with me on my travels. The problem is is that they only have two types of connectors, C8 which has two prongs just like the kind you would find on many power leads, or C6 which has three prongs in the shape of a triangle. What connectors does the Inspiron 1300 have?0

I wouldn't have thought that a surge protector was really necessary, given that the power supply is universal and can handle a wide range of voltages. What goes around - comes around0

Hi there have just had a look at my Inspiron 1300, tried to add a picture into this reply but can't seem to...
Anyway, from the plug there is a 3 prong attachment that goes into the 60W a/c adapter (rectangular black box) out of this a/c adapter (moulded) there is then a single attachment that goes into the laptop.
If you PM me your e-mail address, I can send the picture if that helpsIt's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission0 -
