Balance Transfer Help Needed

OH has two credit cards. Barclaycard has balance of £800 and interest free deal has finished. Egg has balance of £4000 and also paying interest. Barclaycard has offered balance transfer by 31.7.09 using cheques on statement (0% for 1 year). Would he be able to balance transfer the £4000 over even though he has a balance on the other one or does that defeat the purpose. Should he pay off the £800 and balance transfer then. Also does the fact it is cheques make a difference?

Yes, but if the offer expires on 31 July 2009, he may have left things too late.

If he rings Barclaycard Card Services on 01604 234234, he'll avoid the perishing 0870/0844 numbers and, with luck, the overseas call centre
