Laptop insurance whilst studying in Japan

In October my son begins a year's study in Japan as part of his degree course.
He will be taking his laptop (pretty new) with him and we would really like to insure it against loss, theft and ideally damage. So far the quotes I have received seem extortionate or only cover for periods of up to 90 days.
We'd be very grateful for any (hopefully less expensive) advice anyone could give us.

Hi ... unforunately you don't say where you have already tried - so sorry, this may duplicate where you have already been, but have you tried here? :
