  • This may seem like a daft question, but i am worried, me and my husband have been toying with the idea of bankruptcy for a while and finally we have a date!! we have been advised by CAB to open one of the recommended bank accounts now! but what happens to wages, tax credits and benefit whilst this goes on! do we have money to live on! and pay our rent and stuff! what happens! from what i have read on here it all goes to the official reciever? how do we survive? i am worried sick, what should we do??
  • Amanda please can you start your own thread or your question is going to get lost here.

  • Hi Scottishsodapop!

Thanks for the info - my interview on 2nd October

Officially bankrupt of 27 August. Salary paid on 28th. Payroll of my work advised of wage arrestment order from the Council ( who had served a charge of payment) - it arrived just too late to arrest my wages.:rotfl:

Just found out that Council have arrested part of my salary this month even though I contacted them and their agents to advise them of my bankruptcy so now have some urgent phone calls to make at lunch time!

I am right in saying that i will get this back??

Can you offer any other pointers for my interview - getting really anxious about it now. Spent the weekend going over and over income /expenditure etc!

    Any assistance would be appreciated
  • Hi there my interview was a lot easier than i thought about 15 mins
asked why i think i got into finacial trouble and when did it become to much to deal with
asked about salery and they wont contact your employer !!!
basic living costs telephone rent council tax etc
any money stashed away cars youve gave away !!!
and the most bizare question do you know any one who could give you the money to clear your debts lol
so dont worry its very easy prob wont ask half the questions you think they will
My wife got her paper work back today no ipa or anthing just some more details on the car but should get to keep it as i use for work
  • Really pleased to hear all went well for you SSP hmm strange question though do you know anyone who could clear your debts!!

feet up & relax now & enjoy the new life you deserve

(although we'll be picking your brain should we ever need to for all things scottish!)

Well got throught the interview - you were right SSP - 20mins of no pain. It doesnt matter how many people tell that it will really be ok - I was in tenderhooks sitting waiting for the fone to ring! Sat there staring at the thing for what seemed like an eternity beforehand!
Had all my paperwork infront of me for easy access and went through all the questions like you said they would!
Now with that part over; I actually feel for the first time that there is light at the end of tunnel. So its onward and upward!
Special thanks to everyone on the board; and although not a regular contributer, I took great comfort from all your posts - just knowing that I was not alone!
