Cordless Phone

I have two BT Studio100 cordless phones which have worked fine for ages - the only problem I have is when you get through to a call centre etc and they list numbers to press for different issues - the option number i press never seems to register so nothing happens, although occasionally i do get redirected to an operator, - anyone got any advice as to why this happens.

Thanks

Is the handset set to pulse dialing rather than tone? This sometimes happens on older phones and wont be recognised by call routing systems. You'll find the reason you occasionally get through to an operator is that some systems have a default of if nothing is heard for X time route to a live operator.

Page 52 of the User Guide details how to change the base station to tone dialling:

On any handset, press the tick key followed by the up or down arrow key until SETUP is displayed.

Press the tick key again followed by the up or down arrow key until DIAL MODE is displayed.

Press the tick key followed by the up or down key until TONE is displayed.

Press the tick key again followed by the X key twice.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
