Halifax attempting to rob me

Help guys...pls!!!!!!

My halifax account was abour £245 overdawn on a 250 OD limit untill halifax added OD interest. This took me to about 250.79D. They then sent me a kind letter saying i would be charged £35fee and £28 for going overdawn. Is that fair??????????

I feel robbed and financially abused. for 79p they stick me with 53 quid. They make about 250% profit on this one. I should be a banker.

What can i do? I know theres other threads but can anyone give me a quick fire aswer as im off work today so can draw up a letter and send it to my branch in the next hour!

Cheers

Firstly, don't be so sensitive. You exceeded your overdraft. Effectively you did what you are accusing Halifax of doing. You robbed them of 79p. You would have been notified of this interest payment in advance of it being deducted and should have budgeted for it.
    What can i do?

Contact Halifax, speak to them nicely and ask them to refund the charges as the charge is daft for such as small amount over the limit. If you havent exceed the limit in the past most banks will be happy to refund the charges. If you go in all guns blazing from the off then you run the risk of the person you speak to deciding to stand firm.

    What a drama queen!

I agree it is a grossly unfair charge, but honestly!

Can you clarify the £35 fee at all? I can understand the £28.00 one but was there any other transactions going out of the account as well?

To the OP-The charge for going overdrawn is the same irrespective of whether you are overdrawn by a few pence or hundreds of pounds.I would advise you to pay off the OD ASAP as you would be incurring more charges.Yorkshire Bank for example, charge you 8 quid a day on top of a 25 pound penalty. The best way to avoid these charges is to be vigilant and keep checking you account regularly to make sure you are not overdrawn.I have a 500 pound OD but I make sure I never use more than 400.

lol @ "What a drama queen!" yea, fair point. Pls excuse the attitude coz this stuff is new to me.

What oringally happened was; i opened this account with halifax for them to accept my salary. They asked me for my payroll #, which i supplied, and said they'd do the rest, which they didn't.

I'm not used to this sort of thing and just seemed absurd, i'll do what has been mentioned above and thanks for the advice guys.

    Adios
