Advice on Insurance when renting

Hi There,
Sadly hubby has been rather silly with money and we have to sell our house. I'm going to get my own place with my daughter for a while (she needs a stable roof over her head and I can't do that with hubby's mismanagement of everything).
I'm looking to rent, but what insurance is recommended - specially if I need to cover for accidental damage caused by my daughter or indeed her very large but well behaved furry big brother... german shepherd cross.
I don't want to get caught out with any unexpected fees in the event of and damage that might occur (unlikely - but I have to bear the possibility in mind).
Thanks for any advice/recommendations offered. (p.s. I will fully check out any details so any info passed on will not make you liable in anyway for my decision.... - legal bit - boring I know but hey - it covers you....)
)
Thanks again.....

I would advise separate insurance for the dog and contents insurance for the property - that way you have covered everything (I think)0
