Unidentified strange noise - Peugeot 206

Straight to the point. I've become obsessed and concerned with a noise which appears to be coming from under the passenger footwell. It sounds like water gushing, and appears to happen when I put my foot on the excellerator, so I was thinking it could be linked to fuel.
Someone suggested there could be water trapped in a seal and just the movement of the car could be causing it to slosh around. I've looked and the hole underneath the door isn't blocked. And it doesn't sound like sloshing it sounds like it is gushing. What is underneath the passenger footwell?
I've also wondered if the noise is coming from somewhere else, but I'm hearing it come from there.
I've enquired at a local garage and they said they couldn't think what it could be and so would have to have my car in to have a look. I thought maybe someone on MSE forum may be able to help me diagnose it first. I'm thinking of selling my car in Sept so don't want to spend a fortune on it now.
Please help.

Thanks for that. I'm not in the know enough to be able to sort that instantly, but will find out how and try to do it myself at the weeknd - I'm assuming it's not more urgent?
Perhaps you could tell me if this usually affects my fan heater, because a friend suggested it might. Interestingly I don't usually get hot air for the first couple of miles from cold, but this morning I was getting hot air almost instantly. Could this be a confirmation that it could be an air lock in the collant?0
