in Credit cards
Hi
I haven't ever had a credit card before so i'm totally naive when it comes to how they work etc.
Basically, i'm looking to get one, as risk free as possible (!) with as long as possible 0% term. I've had a quick look around the forum but most of the recommendations seem to be for balance transfers, and as i have never had a CC before, i have no balance TO transfer!
can anyone more in the know than I, help?
Thanks

Quite a few cards do 0% for purchases, looking at 9-12 months max for 0% purchase cards.
You say you've never had a credit card, do you have any loans, overdrafts etc which will show on your credit report? If you have had little credit in the past, you may struggle to get a decent mainstream credit card.0 -
I have decent shared credit with my husband...we are separating though. He's had a credit card recently, not sure if it's in my name too though. I have had one a few years ago attached to my current account for a holiday, but we only paid for one thing on it and paid it off straight away. Other than, we are debt free (which is gonna change!) so might not have an extensive credit record, i'm not sure.0

It may be worth applying for a mainstream card in that case.

The best 0% card for purchases is the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card which offers 12 months.0 -
Play.com is pretty competitive - you are best searching the main site for the credit card article, it gives a comprehensive list of credit cards, do's and don'ts, etc. V useful0
