Halifax - Personal Security Number - Questions

Hi

I had to reset my number for telephone banking as I've not used it for a while and forgotton what it was.

They say they shouldn't ask me for my name and do not have access to my account details.

I'm curious, as they went through several security questions, such as place of birth, password (when original PIN was set up) and mother's name - is this normal?

Comments

  • Hi onlyme, yes this is the normal procedure.

The 1st person you would have spoken to would have known your name and account details then transferred you to the 2nd stage of security, who would have no access to your name, account info etc. This is to ensure that no-one at the bank knows both your account deatails and also your security details (password and PSN).

    Hope this helps!

    xx
