conveyancing fees, buying and selling

i have been quoted £505 + vat for conveyancing by countrywide to sell my property postcode DY5, mortgaged, leasehold, and price is £100k, is this reasonable.

just before i ring around a few more solicitors to get quotes from them, i would be grateful if someone could tell me how much is a reasonable price to pay for conveyancing to buy and sell, both property prices will be approx £100k, and in the west midlands area,

thanks
its only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.

Countrywide may well be the cheapest but often your case will not be handled by one person and getting to speak to somebody who is familiar with your case will be next to impossible. This will be fine if everything goes through smoothly, but if there is a problem then this could potentially cause major delays.

We faced the same dilema and chose to use a solicitor to do our conveyancing rather than Countrywide. It cost abit more but talking to people who have used Countrywide I am glad we avoided them.

You will need to take in account the stupid disbursements when buying a property- cheapest then for buying conveyance would be around £800
The whole conveyancing industry is a shambles
