cashback card and making some dosh

Options
Hi,
I had a good look at the boards and found that by getting a Morgan Stanly c/card I could use it instead of my normal switch card .In two months I have accrued over £30.00 .Next March I shall have a nice little bit of cash for actually using my card for almost every payment I make .I pay it all off at the end of each month so I don't incur any interest. As I am a pensioner on a fixed income, apart from leaving sufficient money in my current account to cover standing orders ect the rest I sweep into my High Interest account.I only keep an amount in there to cover the c/card bill the rest goes straight into my ISA account .
I am so pleased with the cashback card though as it seems like a great way to earn a bit of cash without actually doing much
I save all my tesco points for our yearly caravan trip to Norfolk with my grandchildren. It pays for almost all of our food shopping. My Boots points I save up to buy Christmas cards once a year with . My Nectar points I also save to use on Christmas presents I get these if I shop in Sainsburys and also by using dual fuel with Seeboard. I also give my gas and Electric readings online and get an extra £2-3 per quarter knocked off each bill as it comes in .If I see something during the year that may be a useful or pretty present I buy it and put in my big Christmas pressie box. It is amazing how you can actually make a few bob without too much effort. I have also found that by shopping mid-week I safe quite a bit as for some reason there always seems to be more bargains to be had on a Wednesday in my local Tesco's.Less fraying on the nerves as well.
Charity shops are great too I bought a lovely pair of black trousers in my local Sense shop for £3.00. they looked new to me .My local second-hand book shop wil buy any old books from you and you can either have cash or a slightly higher credit note.
My best bit of extra cash this month was I sorted through my old jewelery box and found some old broken bits that were beyond repair and took them to my local jewellers he weighed them up and offered my £30.00 for the scrap gold in them .Yippee a weeks free shopping for me .:j

I do much the same as you Jackie regarding the Morgan Stanley credit card. My anniversary is coming up and i will have about £60 cashback back from it, which will go into my regular savings account. Also, by using the card i am given an interest free period where my my money sits in my online saver gaining interest. I also keep very little money in my bank account in fact i can go overdrawn on it without them charging me for doing it so. This i find handy as the more money i can save in the online saver the better. As i approach £100 i credit my bank account from my online saver and start again.

I also save Tesco points and the money i save, also goes into my savings fund.

I have a bit of an addiction for cosmetics i must say, not the cheaper ranges either, i dont buy much, but what i do buy i buy from the premium beauty counters. After a while, and with careful spending in Boots (mainly buying 3 for 2, buy 1 get 1 free and extra advantage card points) i can afford these cosmetic items out of my points. I recently bought 20 bottles of shampoo that was on buy 1 get 1 free and it was cheaper than i would normally pay in Tesco.

I aint so lucky with charity shops though, i have problems getting clothes to fit me as i am 5ft tall and fat (ok damn it, ive said it now:mad: ). I have lost nearly 2 stone since christmas, so i am hoping that i will be able to find the odd bargain here and there to clothe myself instead of paying an abolute fortune because they will fit.

Good to hear of your success at the jewellers, i sold my exes wedding and and engagement rings many years ago to pay for my wedding photos when i remarried.

I havent actually started buying birthday/christmas cards/pressies in advance, i keep meaning to start but i never get round to it. The nearest i get to it is saving £10 a week in an online savings account and a mad rush when someones birthday or christmas comes up.

I too am more of an Easter egg shape than I should be ;) ,but I do eat as healthily as I can and I think that at my age I'm not going to worry too much about it. Some of my grandkids have a bony nan, and then they have me, who is more of a pillowy type .They love us both, but the little ones love a cuddle from their 'bouncy Nan' (their words not mine ):D
I swim 20 lengths three times a week so I must be fairly healthy. If I felt uncomfortable then I would diet, but as I am happy with myself I think that is all that matters.
My locality must have some chubby ladies as I can find size 22 clothes fairly easily in my local shops . My daughter is an Avon rep. and I can get anything I need at cost from her. I'm not a great one for much more than some lippy and mascara. I do like to treat myself to some nice perfume though. I am off to Brugges next week-end for a few days:j so I shall stock up at the duty-free shop. I adore Chanel No 5 and Anais Anais so i hope to get some of that.I also find that if I buy the same talcum powder or soap it makes you smell just as nice with out breaking the bank. Having two daughters is handy as well as they know what to treat their Mum to.;) I also love the smell of Dove and always stock up when their is a BOGOF in my local Lloyds the chemist. :money:
