After a few years they've never offered me one. I rang them up once, and they said they don't make further offers.
Also, if you cancel and reapply it seems you won't get one either as the deals are stated as being for first time applicants only.
I regard Nationwide CC as a one hit wonder.... but am willing to stand corrected.0 -
No, I have one for years and never got any repeat offer.
I keep it and only use it for abroad... Suits perfectly for that.0 -
Yes Nationwide are pretty much unique in that you cannot even cancel and reapply a year later to get a new deal.
However there are benefits of keeping the card long term such as the fee free foreign currency transactions and the beneficial allocation of payment rules which other cards don't usually offer.0 -
Hmm... I thought this was the case but I have a query now. The other day I went in to the bank (I bank with Nationwide) and the cashier said I was a "valued customer" and was pre-approved a credit card. I said that I had one previously and would only consider applying if I could have the intro offer. He said "yes - 13 months interest free on BTs"... I haven't applied yet but am tempted if I can get the offer. Was he mistaken? What are your thoughts?
Thanks,

What are your thoughts? You can apply to change your Nationwide credit card at any time but any introductory rate or offer is not available if you have previously held a Nationwide credit card with an introductory rate or offer.

I guessed it was too good to be true. I'll have to look elsewhere then for my next BT!
Thanks,

Bear in mind that bank and building society staff have sales targets to meet. It's in their interest to persuade customers to apply for as many services (or products, as they insist on calling them) as possible.
Btw, even though you have been "pre-approved" you can still be turned downPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

Yep.... I would get any promise by a staff member in writing! If it's just verbal, the written T&Cs are likely to be successful in excluding the staff member's promise. In exceptional cases, contract law does recognise the concept of an "overriding verbal assurance". Ie if the staff member was quite explicit that a particular term didn't apply to you, then you should be OK. Difficult to prove after the event (recorded phone conversation with their consent?) and a bloomin great hassle.0
