Good Morning
We have our fuel supplied by E-on via a capped (V10) duel fuel tariff.
Receiving a recent bill we could not understand why the electricity account was so expensive?
We have an economy 7 meter but don’t use enough fuel at night to make it worth its while & are billed at a single standard tariff for both meters. However, this amount of usage is still under the supplier’s minimum rate & therefore we believe that there must be a break price which we are not reaching i.e. when we reach a magic figure all used units are charged at a cheaper price?
With a new gas central heating system we have no problems. Our charges are most reasonable.
We calculate the electricity usage of 2683Kw from Feb 2008-Feb 2009 .
Is there a fuel supplier that caters for us low users?

are there any charges for leavin your capped scheme
how long are the rates capped for
& yes, Ebico have a flat rate scheme0 -
Not sure what you mean by "this amount of usage is still under the supplier’s minimum rate"
2683kWh is only just under the UK average of 3,300kWh.
Most suppliers have a tier 1 allocation of expensive units way below 2,683kWh. 900kWh pa is normal and BG have 500kWh pa.
All you need to do is go to a comparison website and enter an annual consumption of 2683kWh and it will show you the cheapest supplier. I doubt Ebico will be cheapest on that level of consumption.
However you may find that losing your dual fuel discount will be more than you gain from getting a cheaper electricity tariff.
Also some suppliers on certain tariffs will not let you take only gas - not sure if that applies to your tariff.0 -
Hi Brian,
The threshold for electricity tariffs is 900 primary units, after you use this amount you are charged at the lower secondary unit rate.
So in your case, you will (in the year period suggested) use 900 primary units and 1783 secondary units. The 900 is spread into the 4 quarters so you pay 225 per quarter rather than all 900 in 1 quarter of the year.
Just to confirm E.ON do not have a tariff with a flat rate.
As asked by Kippen, I can confirm there is no exit fee for ending this capped tariff. And the prices are capped until 1 April 2010.
Looking at the unit rates Brian, you took this tariff at the right time; I think this has really benefited you whilst prices have increased.
Worth bearing in mind that as the rates you capped at are so low compared to current fuel prices, you may want to use the full term of the capped deal, i.e. you have around 8/9 months left of paying very low unit rates.

Do a check using 2-3 of the comparison sites in the resource bar above."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
