My children 4 nad 7 are filling up the computer with games, so I think it is time to buy a games console!
But which is best?
Have been looking at the gamecube as I can get a new 1 with 3 games that they would like for £80.
Or should I go for PS2? I know that they are bringing out the PS3 in november but will it be like the New Xbox360? with a price tag to match?
My sons are both Sonic the Hedgehog mad.
Thanks

Just rung my local game store- they are selling the gamecubes off, as it is to be replaced!
So looks like it`s a PS2 as he also told me a PS3 will be approx £500 lol I don`t think so!
Oh do I go for black or silver? Are they the same apart from the colour?April Grocery challange £175

Black and silver are exacly the same inside, they did the silver one to increase the life of the ps2 and becasue TV's are pretty much all silver now they go together better, Silver tend to be slightly more expensive.
I think the sonic games are available on the Came cube as well but thePS2 versions are cheaper.
All the games machines are being replaced this year nintendo revolution PS3 and the xbox 360 a few months ago. prices are always high but if you wait they drop but most people cant wait and go out any buy them for brragging rights.
If thay like sonic then they will be happy with playing them for a few months and they wont be avilable on the new machines.0 -
Yes the Gamecube is being replaced but then so is the PS2 so no difference their. PS2 games are easier to get hold as some shops have dropped Gamecube games. There's a bigger range of PS2 games but that means more rubbish. I'd say the Gamecube has more quality childrens games rather than cynical cash ins and there will plenty of cheap games available when the Revolution comes out.0

I am a console nut have 7 different ones have never been tempted by a ps2 for some reasion
my son who is 11 has been a nintentdo fan since been 5 and loves his cube
if your kids love sonic then a dreamcast would be the best buy you can get one 2nd hand for under £20 most games are under £5 on ebay and there is a good home brew scene
and games are still been produced for it in japan
see https://www.dreamcast-scene.com
also look at https://www.xbox-scene.com
for xbox stuff you can even run linux on the xbox hdd
let us know what you buy0 -

Cannot see the PS3 being £500 and apparantly there are numerous problems with the machine as it may not be released by November as one of the main reasons is that there are no PS3 development untis ready until June so game developers only have 5 months to get games ready for the expected launch in November but seing that it is Sony and the mess up with the PSP lauch I would expect it sometime next year.
The silver PS2 was about £10 more than the black one but that is the only difference and they may now be the same price0
