On a similar note, my younger brother many years ago had a comforter which was the ribbon edging of his cot blanket. Mum made the mistake of washing it and he screamed blue murder till mum got it dirty again. She got it dirty again by wiping it round the door of our old parkray fire! He's 30 now and fortunately doesn't require the comforter anymore as he has his girfriend for that ;). Sorry I know I've not been any help, just wnated to add my bit!!

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

I have washed feather pillows and had no problems....if you have a tumble drier use that, if not hang on line but change round frequently, giving it a good shake each time....this will work inside if the weather is bad but better outside in a nice warm breeze, obviously.

pretz. my older DS had a massive attachment to his feathered pillow, and it wasn't the smell but simply the texture he seemed to find comforting. It washed fine in the WM with an extra spin and a hang outside of a fine day, then a finish off in the Td for softness. Hw never noticed if it was washed or not.

ok i dont know if i have done the right thing but i thought i had a bit of a brain wave today as my friend who had dd phoned up and asked me to take dd's pillow over in time for bed as she was creating for so decided on a quick fix waiting to hear how the pillow fix went down in the morning lol, so basically what i done is cut the seam on one end emptyed into a spare pillow case and place an over locking seam and a backstiched seam along the opening of the pillow case with the feathers in, then washed and dried the original pillow case sewed a zip in the cut edge and then placed the other pillow case inside so now im thinking that when it does get smelly again i can just take it off the inner case and wash it. hope she doesnt notice lol

thanks again everyone hope what i said above makes sense lol

Has washing the pillow case solved the problem?

If not, as several people have said, you can wash feather pillows (I even put my kingsize feather duvet in the WM regularly) using a mild detergent and no fabric conditioner (it clogs the feathers - you can use vinegar in the final rinse though). I usually dry them on the line, then put them in the TD for a few minutes with a couple of tennis balls to make them fluffy again.

Looked in to see how you got on, and I'm very impressed by your genius! Well done, but did it work? How was she?
