Maybe it is a good time for her to be separated from it? We recently tried to wash a feather pillow and it ruined it. If you feel she is not ready to be separated can you not buy a new one of the same brand and tell her it came up well in the wash? Good luck with whatever you decide.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Lol sounds like my DD but she's 9 and has a tiger! Don't know but assume that the pillow has a cover so you can wash that? If she's away for a while could you slit the pillow and soak the feathers or perhaps 'fabreeze' them? Have to be careful on this one because kids know!!!! Sorry can't be more help.

I tried to wash my feather duvet only recently in the washing machine (my wee one was sick on it), it smelt terrible and turned a brown colour, I had to throw it away.
If it is a pillow, could you unpick the sewing and take the feather out to wash the cover, if not I suggest Frebrize.

Hi Pretz,
You can wash feather pillows either by hand or in the washing machine, but the biggest problem is getting them dry...it takes forever.
There's an earlier thread with some advice on washing feather pillows that might help:
Washing Pillows
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Pretz,
Dont give up! Your DD is away for a while so you can unpick the pillow-48 hours and the feathers will dry;) However, your DD will 'smell' her pillow different-my DD took 2 months to get Tiger 'clean' and she's had him since she was 2, and still cant sleep without him. Is your DD's pillow your smelly problem or your DD's:question: No offence, but kids need comfort + smelly toys, blankets, pillows are part of that.

Could you not unpick it, wash the cover, then replace the feathers with clean ones from a new pillow.
That way it would look like the original.
ETA - If you think the smell is important you could put a few of the old ones back but not all.0 -
I have a expensive padded down jacket that is full of feathers, i can wash this in the washing machine but instructions state i must use non bio washing detergents, wash on a cool wash and then must tumble dry it as soon as it is washed, so that the feathers dry and seperate (go fluffy), if you try and dry it on a line it takes too long and the feathers rot apparantly, have washed this jacket a few times following instructions and has been fine, it might work the same way with a feather pillow?0

Try hand soap and rub it all over with a dampish (NOT TOO WET) cloth and leave to dry in a sunny warm place - we did this with Ds Teddy and it worked a treat xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
