I have a Dell Inspiron lappy. When running on battery the screen is bright, when plugged in to the power the screen is dull. Any way I can reverse these?

Has it been repaired? looks like they have wired the light up the wrong way, I have seen this before on a HP laptop which had been repaired (broken screen)
If still in warantee contact dell and ask then to fix it...no point in doing it yourself unless out of waranteeWelcome, rogerramjet.

No its not been repaired. Its only bothering me now as the sunlight is streaming thru the room and a brighter screen would help.illegitimi non carborundum0

not just Dell, my Fujitsu does it as well but i prefer it dull.
Didn't help you but at least it's not a faulty laptop.0 -
if you hit the FN button in blue on the left of the keyboard they are some brightness controls in blue on the bottom right on the keyboard on the up and down arrow keysEx forum ambassador

there should be some power saving settings in the bios, that tell the laptop to dim the display on battery to save power.. change them to full brightness.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

I had a similar problem and was just "living with it". Sorted now - Many thanks.0
