Not necessarily, a wood pellet boiler, whilst more expensive to buy and install is cheaper than both to run or you could try a heat pump. The economics are predicted to swing in favour of both those options in the long term.

HI, I have got Allbrite underfloor heating throughout the whole of my house and i love it, wouldn't be without it. I don;t find it more expensive to run as I have insulated the house very well and it really keeps the heat on. When i do put it on it's for an hour in the morning and an hour when we get in from work.

I also have a megaflow, which is also electric, but also retains the heat very very well. Again on in the morning and that's it, stay hot for days.

    Hope that helps.
