I wonder when that stopped then - has there been any change in the legislation?
I used to get applications referred from our automated approval system because, say, a work telephone number differed from previous credit card application 'X', a sort code differed from loan application 'Y' or a date of birth differed from store credit application 'Z' - all from companies other than the one I was workng for.
I haven't needed to apply for credit recently but the release of the information on an application to the credit reference agencies used to be authorised by the applicant as part of a disclaimer on the form/e-form. Maybe this is now prohibited under DPA legislation.
