Aerial/Freeview Problem

Do not use an amplifier in an urban area - they are more trouble than they are worth, if you have a localised source of interference say half a decibel and you put a 20dB amplifier inline you will amplify the interference by a huge factor.
Amplifiers are only suitable in low noise / out of town areas, your best solution to your problem is a good antenna, you can buy a high-gain directional antenna from any good stockist for around £10, the mounting hardware cost will depend on the length of aluminum pole you choose so your best bet would be to pay an Antenna installer to do the job, parts and labour. Do not use cheap Co-Ax Cable as this will cause degraded signal loss - cheap cable is false economy, use a high-grade 75 Ohm cable and insist on this if you get a company to install your new antenna.
A final thought, if you have any HAM Radio operators or CB Radio operators in your area, you MAY be getting interference from them, 9 times out of 10 it is due to a poor TV/TV Antenna installation and not the fault of the Radio operator, if this is an issue you must buy what is known as a "Braid-Breaker High Pass Filter", this will solve 99% of common interference problems from Taxi Offices, HAM Radio and CB.
Good Luck.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Bexm, you have just made me realise that I had cavity wall insulation done a few weeks ago, and they went up in the loft. Bet they've knocked it or something.
Hopefully its that simple, if not I'll be going through all the other suggestions on here.
Thanks for all your help, its much appreciated.0
