Take a look at what Dita von Teese is wearing (when she isn't on stage ;) )

She's a petite woman with large breasts and a small frame, and I can't imagine anyone looking more feminine than she does. Look at the shapes of the clothes she wears and how she emphasises the difference between waist and chest so her body shape isn't hidden away.

You can replicate this sort of look with an investment of time, if not necessarily tons of money. Look at ebay for dresses and skirts, go through charity shops and car boot sales, rummage the sale rails for tops with the appropriate necklines and fitted little cardigans. Aim for a smallish collection of coordinating clothing that can be mixed and matched together.

Oh, and if you feel the need to splash out, take a look at Vivien's of Holloway. They have an ebay shop but if you're local I believe they offer discounts. And they're fabulous.

I've lived too long in baggy jeans and hooded sweatshirts and enough is enough....

I keep buying prettyish things but nothing ever suits me as I'm an odd shape and it always has the tags on a year later.

So.. I've cleared the wardrobe out. Posted everything on bigwardrobe and thrown away all my ripped jeans and faded sweaters and tops full of holes.

Thing is, what next? The style I want is ... vintage, indie, bohemian... it fits in with my personality and my tastes, but conversely I'm not creative and I just can't seem to match clothes to a style or even with each other!

    Where do I begin????

I'm 5'3, small boned, about a size 10 but I have a big chest and I do worry it doesn't give me the dainty feminine look. Argh someone help please!!!!

In Primark's swimwear section they have beach dresses that are very bohemian in a few different colours with silver thread running through them, they look very 70's but with the metallic thread they have a modern edge to them. I tried one on the other week and though it wasn't my style at all it was very pretty, and would look fab with a beaded necklace and some jeans or leggings, or just some wedges. I'd say go for a size 12 though as I too am a ten with a large bust and found the 10 was too tight on the chest to look right.

But that's the very essence of bohemianism/indie chic....nothing should match or be "styled".

Being a boho chick myself I simply buy what I love (at jumbles/car boots and charity shops) and wear it together.

I always think trying to create your own, individual style is too much pressure. Very few people have a completely original style. I say don't worry if you find yourself wearing similar things to others. I'm a firm believer in accessories - they can take a simple outfit like jeans and a t-shirt and make it look unique and stylish.

I buy most of my clothing from the high street. I wear jeans a lot, have lots of printed dresses, plain coloured cardis, soft slouchy t-shirts and long, oversized vests. For accessories, I either make stuff, buy from charity shops, vintage shops or carboots, or search on eBay. I have a plethora of belts and scarves which are great for transforming a tee, jeans and cardi. Necklaces are my forte - I hunt for vintage charms online and in charity shops and stick them on chains. I don't really wear earrings, I prefer a stack of wooden and metal bangles and long, layered necklaces.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself - if you're most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, wear that and create a sense of style with bits you can add or take away.

Thank you everyone :) I went into Primark today for a look around and spent ages trying things on and I found some tops and skirts that really suited me! Things that I wouldn't have tried before but following the advice looked good. Couldn't buy anything as totally broke at the moment, but I'm going to desperately try and sell a few things on ebay this week! I've lost nearly a stone and a half so I need to get some clothes as nothing fits!!! :D

Glad you got on so well - post weight loss shopping just feels great doesn't it! Along with that feeling where you realise that very little in your wardrobe fits, which should be rubbish, but it feels great cos everything is too big!! ( Used to be 4 stone heavier)

Feminine and glam here you come!

I went to a different primark this weekend and bought few bits, they were so cheap (around £1!) but I made sure I wasn't tempted just by bargains as I knew what I wanted when I went in then.

I wanted to ask something else though... I've seen gorgeous skirts, dresses and tops and tried them on and they look really lovely, but I'm not sure what to look for if I ever wanted to go out smartly but in some sort of trousers?

And also is there a feminine/vintage casual look? Like today I'm taking the kids to the park and the pretty A line polka dot skirt isn't quite going to suit :D

Hello, hope you are getting on well!!!

Trousers I would say depends on your shape really - I tend to go for quite a wide leg smart trouser with a nice glitzy top, cos my hips and skinnies don't work!! You might find you need to spend a couple of hours in a shop that does a good mixture of different cuts of trouser and just see what flatters best

Once you are brave enough corsets can look AMAZING if you have a small waist - it's worth getting a proper steel boned one though, the impact is fab. Dress up with a skirt for a fancy night, or down with jeans/black trousers for a night in town (not down the local tho!)

For casual, I quite often wear jeans or linen trousers, with either a slightly longer tunic type top (normally with some beading etc) or dress jeans up a wee bit by wearing them with a blazer or a nice colourful mac, and heels (or funky flats.) I have a few short dresses/long tops which are v neck and tie under bust which look nice worn over jeans, so can be dressy on their own or more casual worn as a top. I have to admit I find casual harder to do with a big bust, as simple t-shirts which are a staple for most don't tend to fit very well!
