Trying to find out if anyone else has had any calls from BT or someone claiming to be BT offering a discount if they were to pay their bill by phone there and then? BT have denied they have such a policy. Wondering if it is a scam. They did quote my whole account details and phone number so sounded legit.
Thanks

Welcome to the MSE forums John.
Best to treat it as a scam to get hold of your debit card details.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Hi johnc65,
That does sound like a scam, if we called you we would never quote your account number to you for validation. Did you give any personal details to them?
Thanks,
Stephanie

Never ever ever ever give debit or credit card details if someone calls you. It's the oldest trick in the book and no reputable firm would do it.0
